Chrismtas Parties All Over the City!

Time of the year again when the streets are busy. Most of the companies and even government agencies are having their parties! Busy streets, busy malls, almost everything and everyone are busy.

I could still recall when I was younger, every after Holy Mass for Christmas eve, there were parties on the street where I grew up. They're playing lively Christmas songs and having lots of fun.  There you can see  items like portable guitar amp at Musicians Friend and big speakers, lots of foods and drinks and the teens enjoying the event and totally having fun!

How I wish my kids will also have the chance to enjoy these kinds of events when they're a bit older, and that the streets are still a safe place to hold events like these..

Home Made Lechon Paksiw

We had this leftovers from an event last night.. More than 1 kilo of roasted pig.
So, as early as 7 in the morning I decided to cook Lechon Paksiw.

  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup liver spread(optional)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • salt to taste

Procedures:

  1. In a cooking pot, heat lechon meat until start to render oil then saute garlic and onions.
  2. Pour water then add peppercorn and bay leaf then bring to boil.
  3. Add the vinegar and simmer for 5 minutes.

Parental Separation Anxiety

Maternal separation anxiety is experienced when a mother besieged the feeling of guilt at the thought of a short-term separation with her kid. Who says that separation anxiety is just for kids? It is in fact that a lot of us parents have this feeling of acutely nervous when our child begins school or leaves the house.

My girls.. Whom I can't seem to live without..

At times, we parents worry about our child’s adjustment or simply just missing spending time with him/her. This feeling is completely normal, and the good thing is that there are certain ways we can alleviate our stress when our child is away.

Staying busy by filling up your hours or even days with activities that requires mobility can help you forget about the separation.
Enjoy your time alone. Becoming a parent deprives you of your “me-time”. Now is the chance to pamper yourself while you child is away. Do the yoga, go on a spa, and watch a movie with your husband, bond with your girl friends.
Don’t make your child feel guilty of leaving you. Show a positive attitude. Parental separation anxiety can transfer to the children and tends contribute to their anxiety too.

Be enthusiastic and be proud of your child’s activities.

Put Those Postage Stamps Away via Canva.com

Each year Filipinos spend hours waiting in checkout lines, licking dozens of icky stamps and worrying that snail mail won’t get their holiday messages to friends and family in time. And all in the name of the humble Christmas card.

Perhaps that’s why less cards are being sent now than ever before. And sheeeesh, the decline isn’t slowing down: the number of greeting cards posted has dropped 24 percent in the past decade. But no surprises there — it’s often the last thing on our mind with countless family gatherings, presents to organise and the mad holiday shopping rush.

So what if you could say a heartfelt ‘Happy Holidays’ to the people you care about with a personal design that’s just as sentimental as a handwritten note, but super quick and simple to create? Forget the text message; hold that Facebook post. Heck, why not make this Christmas a bit more special…

Simple online design platform Canva has a cracker of a Christmas surprise this silly season. The folks at Canva believe they can anyone into a designer with their free drag-and-drop design tool. The company has today launched a collection of entirely customisable, beautifully designed Christmas cards. Want to know how to create a spectacular looking card with Canva? Here’s the 1, 2, 3…

2. Customise the card however you like; add family photos, write a personal message, change the graphics, or create your own from scratch

3. Pick who you want to send it to, and… badda bing -- you’re done!

Canva has been in exclusive closed beta for the past two-and-a-half months, but are now giving you the chance to join the more than 110,000 people who for the first time have been able to create their own designs without spending thousands of dollars on frustrating desktop software that takes years to learn. Hey, don’t take our word, here’s what others have said:

Canva enables anyone to become a designer” — PSFK
“A graphic design platform anyone can use” — TechCrunch
“Canva could very well become an industry disrupting household name” — Web Appstorm
“The easiest to use design program in the world” — Netted by the Webbys

According to Canva CEO Melanie Perkins the company wants to make it easy for people to create and share their own designs with people they care about, and receiving personalised Christmas cards is something everyone appreciates.

“Together with the world’s best photographers, designers, and illustrators, we’ve set out to introduce beautiful design to everyone," she said.

Sharing Your Feelings With Others

A significant aspect of achieving personal growth is being able to effectively communicate your feelings to others. However, the ability to genuinely share your feelings takes practice and confidence. Fortunately, there are specific actions you can take to help you develop this ability.

If you apply these strategies, you'll be telling others how you feel with assertiveness and excellent social graces:

1. Recognize what you're feeling and put a label on it. Examining your own set of emotions is much different than noticing how others react. Avoid focusing on how you think others are feeling, at least initially in a situation. Stay inside your own self to determine how you feel.

* Getting in touch with your own feelings is a great first step toward expressing yourself to others. When labeling your emotions, consider the full range of human feelings.

* Although you may tend to think of more prominent feelings such as happiness, sadness or anger, there are gradients of these feelings. Think of contentment, disappointment, melancholy, irritation and other emotions to find just the right label for your feelings.

* Once you've labeled how you feel, you're better prepared to share your emotions.

2. Ask yourself if the time, place and situation are appropriate to sharing feelings. If you want someone to really hear you, they must be able to focus on your words. In order to be heard, it helps to be judicious about these three elements: time, place, and situation.

* Telling your sister at the family picnic that you're disappointed in her not showing up for plans you had earlier might reflect an ill-timed effort. On the other hand, calling your sister the next day and sharing your sentiments when she can focus on you and the conversation shows a better choice of time, place, and situation.

* When these 3 aspects are right, go ahead and share how you feel.

3. Remind yourself you have a right to feel how you feel. As a human being, you're entitled to feel however you feel. Your feelings are just as relevant as the next guy's emotions. And you don't really have to explain why you feel a certain way.

* In essence, you feel what you feel because you feel it. No other reasoning is necessary.

4. Show confidence during your exchange. Avoid being afraid to say how you feel. If you state your feelings with confidence, others will listen and respect you. But if you feel unworthy of someone's time, your self-doubt will reveal itself in the discussion.

* Take pride in the fact you're connected with your own mind and emotions and that you're not too afraid, ashamed or embarrassed to share it.

5. Use respectful voice tones. Even though you sometimes might experience strong feelings, take special care in moderating your voice tones while expressing emotions. Using a calm voice tone makes it easier for listeners to hear what you're saying.

* Loud or disrespectful tones will divert the listener from what you're truly trying to communicate. The listener will focus on your demeanor instead.

6. Be appreciative. Finally, in your efforts to express yourself, show gratitude for the listener's time and patience in hearing you. After all, people have a choice as to whether they communicate with you. A word of thanks to them for taking the time helps to build strong relationships. Saying, "Thanks for listening" shows you appreciate the listener.

Sharing your feelings takes time, effort and tact. However, as you apply these strategies, you'll improve in your quest to reveal your feelings to others. Once you become skilled at expressing yourself, you'll be well on the road to living the life you desire.

Top 11 Reasons to Learn Something New Each Day

Learning something new each day is easy. Some people read voraciously and are a beacon of knowledge. Others tune in to their favorite information channel on television, listen to the radio, converse with their neighbor, or go to work to learn. However you find it, knowledge is all around you every day.

Learning new things can enrich your life in many ways:

1. Provides something to talk about. Who doesn't want to be known for being an interesting conversationalist? You'll have plenty of fodder to share with others.

2. Exposes you to new things. Learning about new information expands your mind. You become a more interesting and thoughtful person when you gain new knowledge.

3. You might find that one thing that makes your heart sing. For example, maybe you've never heard of swimming with the dolphins. But you read about it or saw it on television and planned a vacation to do it. You stand to experience something awesome just because you gained new knowledge.

4. Learning is refreshing. Learning excites your mind when you take in new info. You're seduced to learn more and more. It's great to feel like your mind is renewed in some way, and learning every day contributes to that feeling.

5. Combats boredom. When you learn something new, it helps you avoid a hum-drum existence. Jazz up your life simply by acquiring new information.

6. Gives you something to look forward to. If you know that each day after work, you're going to search the internet with your iPad to research your currently favorite topic, you've got something to look forward to during your work day.

7. You affect the lives of others. Something you learn and share could have a profound impact on another person. At the very least, you might trigger someone's curiosity to the extent that they delve more into a topic you've shared.

8. You set a great example for your children. There's nothing that gets children interested in reading and scholarly topics like observing their parents expressing excitement about learning. Plus, seeing parents open a book, magazine or newspaper every day inspires kids to want to learn, too.

9. Knowledge is power. Sir Francis Bacon, an English philosopher and writer who lived during the 17th century, once said, "Knowledge is power." When you have knowledge, you have the power to achieve many things. You gain something important. One of the most crucial reasons to learn something new daily is that you gain power when you do.

10. You'll be intellectually stimulated. Get your intellectual juices flowing by opening a book or watching an information channel on television. Want to know more about carpentry? Fashion design? Ancient aliens? Find thought-provoking information and indulge. Expose yourself to topics to ponder.

11. Your quality of life will be enhanced. Learning provides you with an escape when you need it, knowledge when you seek it, and a great pastime.

There are so many reasons to gain new knowledge daily. Expand your mind, set a good example for your children and gain some power in your life. Overcome boredom, cultivate great conversation and positively impact the life of another human being. You'll achieve all of these things and more when you focus on learning something new every day.
