AntSarap Bakeshop No More

Yummy looking cake. But looks can deceive, you know! Ang tigas ng cake.. So frustrating!

I just learned the other day that the bakeshop/coffee shop owned by my high school batch mate closed down already and is now a "BBQ/sisig resto".

I went there one afternoon after a tiring shoot I had, to try some it's yummy food listed on their menu.

But unfortunately, almost 75% of those listed were not available for consumption. It was actually disappointing. But still not losing hope, I ordered a cake and asked for some latte (next was a frappe but no avail). So I settled with a can of soda.

Beautifully laden menu.. But UNFORTUNATELY, 75% on the list aren't available.

Very neat and nicely arranged place.

The cakes.. I just hope not all of these are "PANGAT". LOL For they sure all looks so delish!
The front. Sad to say, it's no longer a coffee shop.. :(

The time I was there, I am with few foreigners. They also, was dismayed upon learning that the things they wanted to order weren't available that time. One of those even got mad, left the place with some negative remarks about the place.

I just understand recently why it was like that. But, they could have done it better despite the nearing closing down of the place. To have no negative issues/remarks from their clients/customers.

I honestly think that if only they manage the place well, put some time and effort doing the works, the place can be a hit knowing the fact that it is situated in a busy area, near a working place and accessible.

Rating this place (though it's closed already) 2 stars over 5. The neatness and nice comfy feeling of the venue got the points. With the cakes and food availability, it failed.

Book Review: The Seacrest By Aaron Paul Lazar

Title: The Seacrest
Author: Aaron Paul Lazar
Copyright: 2013
First Edition: August, 2013

This book is full of emotion. I can totally relate to Finn's character. So much in-love at the very young age. But then, situation calls for them to both part ways while still madly in love.

I found the book well written, beautifully edited and a smooth read. I highly recommend this story if you like a beautiful hard to gain romance, twists and turns, coves, blueberries, horses and sensual sex. Giving it a rating of 4 stars.

They say it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Finn McGraw disagrees. He was just seventeen when he had a torrid summer affair with the girl who stole his heart—and then inexplicably turned on him. Finn may have moved on with his life, but he’s never forgotten her. Now, ten years later, he’s got more than his lost love to worry about. A horrific accident turns his life upside down, resurrecting the ghosts of his long-dead family and taking the lives of the few people he has left. Finn always believed his estranged brother was responsible for the fire that killed their family—but an unexpected inheritance with a mystery attached throws everything he knows into doubt. And on top of that, the beguiling daughter of his wealthy employer has secrets of her own. But the closer he gets, the harder she pushes him away. The Seacrest is a story of intrigue and betrayal, of secrets and second chances—and above all, of a love that never dies.

Aaron Paul Lazar writes to soothe his soul. An award-winning, bestselling Kindle author of three addictive mystery series, Aaron enjoys the Genesee Valley countryside in upstate New York, where his characters embrace life, play with their dogs and grandkids, grow sumptuous gardens, and chase bad guys. FragranceNet.com $50 eGift Card Giveaway

My SweepsBes City's

Holiday Gift Guide & Giveaway 2013

Sponsored by....

Disclosure: I received a free product for review purposes. The opinions I have shared are honest, and my own.

Just a few days ago I received a 1.7 FL oz bottle of Vera Wang's eau de parfum spray from FragranceNet.com to review, and I was very excited to to receive it. I had sprayed a sample of it on me while sing in Macy's Department Store, but that was over a year ago, and I had forgotten how it smelled.

Vera Wang's eau de Parfum has a very light, but long lasting fragrance. It's very noticeable, yet it's not over powering.  I have warn perfumes in the past that were so strong,  you could smell me coming from a half a block away. I had this happen to me a few years ago when on my way to do some shopping. When I arrived near the front of the store a guy said to me, "Ma'am I smelled your perfume way before you got here!" Lol That gengentleman didn't seem to mind the loudness of my purfume very much, but what he said stuck with me.  I have also had the very opposite to happen, when I've spent a nice piece of change on a major brand name item,  and not get one compliment. Needless to say when that happens I never purchase that particular product again.  This was not the case with Vera Wang's eau de parfum however.  It has a lovely delicate scent that still manages to make its presence known, but in a very suttle way.

I highly recommend FragranceNet.com for the excellent deals they offer on their website. They sell brand name products, but for a nominal price. They also offer special money saving coupons which are made available to you directly on their website. This makes it more convenient for you to complete your Holiday shopping. It also allows you to score some fantastic deals in the process. Please do consider them when online for your Holiday gift shopping needs.  I also recommend Vera Wang's eau de parfum to any one in the market for a new fragrance. It will make a great gift for yourself,  your friends, and family members as well. If you are interested in purchasing a bottle of Vera Wang's eau de parfum then you can find it HERE!

Combating Climate Change by Using Cloth Diapers

It's almost 4 months that we're exclusively using cloth diapers for my baby Moirah, and I can proudly say that never a single moment we think about disposable diapers. No matter how enticing their offers are, I still don't care, as long as we are using cloth diapers, never a gain will I try to let my daughter use disposable ones.
Moirah's few sets of CDs

Imagine how many moms are still using disposable diapers for their babies. That being the case, imagine how many spoiled nappies to be thrown, imagine that those things will not degrade nor be dissolve for more than 500 years. Imagine this dump trailer full of soiled nappies. Mother Earth will sure cry for help!

In my own little way, I know I am helping Mother Nature. Along with the moms I know that are also using cloth diapers.

Pinoys Love Videoke

Videoke is a very popular form of entertainment in the Philippines. An entertainment in which novice singers or just anybody who wants to consider singing, sing alongside with recorded new music utilizing a microphone. On video, the voice of the original singers are taken out or muted and the lyrics are shown with corresponding moving cursors and transforming text shades so that 1 can easily stick to the song. These serve as a manual to successfully supply the song. It can be in a basic Tv with an attached player or it can also be a videoke device wherein you press the corresponding buttons to enter the variety of your song and then play it.

That being said, having a good set of microphones like best astatic microphones makes you sound so good in singing while having fun using videoke. :)

In our family, who only a few loves to sing, it's always a plus having a videoke machine rented for a birthday event. My youngest brother is the one who loves to sing and is always enjoying the use of videoke.

Orchestra, Anyone?

Watching August Rush sometime last week made me love to listen to more orchestra-tic music! Who wouldn't? I love how those musical instruments joined together can make a very lovely sound! It feels so good, really.

Big percussion gives me thrill!

Violins are enticing! Enhances the moods (positively).

Now, it made me feel sad that orchestra is not really a "thing" here in the Philippines.

But anyways, would really be great if one of my kids be interested in joining or even learning musical instruments.

Before I had this thick song book that have the notes of every beautiful old songs I've known, but someone borrowed it but didn't return it. It could've been a good start to learn playing musical instruments like the violin or guitar.

Now, I wonder if I they're selling some exceptional Hal Leonard products here in the Philippines?

Building Your Child's Self-Confidence

Self-confidence is one of those character traits that ensures a child will develop into an emotionally healthy, assertive adult. However, because your children attend school with their peers, they're exposed to numerous incidents of peer pressure every day, which can challenge their self-confidence. So, what's a parent to do?

Although some of these incidents at school have positive effects on your child's psyche, the child who gets a healthy boost of self-confidence at home will fare far better when it comes to handling the influences of peers.

These strategies can help you cultivate self-confidence in your child:

1. Allow children to do tasks and duties themselves. Even though you might prefer to follow along behind your child as he makes his bed, straightening the off-center pillows and fixing the bedspread that's draping on the floor on one side, it's important for your child to feel he performed well in a task you assigned.

* Stifle your internal urges to correct everything. Your child stands to benefit when you allow him to do his very best at an assigned job.

2. Give praise at every possible moment it's earned. One of the most empowering things you'll ever do as a parent is using your voice to let your child know when he's doing a good job. Nothing will build his pride and confidence better than hearing from a parent that he's performing up to par. Make it a point to notice your child's good deeds.

3. Be interested. Although this one sounds easy, it's amazing to see how many parents find themselves so busy taking care of work and home that they don't have any energy left for the kids.

* Each day, take time to show an interest in what each of your kids are involved in. Whether they're reading a series of books or playing tee-ball down at the local park, show sincere regard in what your kids are doing.

* When you do, your kids feel important and as if they matter to the world. You'll bolster self-confidence simply by taking an interest in your child.

4. Help kids identify feelings. Encourage children to verbally label and express their own feelings, like happiness, fear and even anger. Then, accept those feelings with unconditional positivity.

* Your kids have a right to their feelings. How you respond and react when they show feelings demonstrates to them whether they are entitled to their feelings.

* When kids feel their feelings are valid and important, they learn to listen to their gut and have confidence to go against the tide of peer pressure.

5. Ignore minor, annoying behaviors. This suggestion is a tough one to follow. After all, isn't it your job to correct your children's behaviors?

* If your goal is to suppress or extinguish less-than-desirable actions and build confidence at the same time, it's best to pay no attention to those actions.

* When kids' actions are worthy of your attention, provide a positive response. Otherwise, do nothing. You'll be pleasantly surprised how quickly an annoying behavior fizzles out. And your child's confidence will be unaffected by your (lack of a) response.

* After all, a child would much rather receive confidence-building attention, even if it requires good behavior.

6. Refrain from criticizing your child. As a loving parent, make the decision that there's simply no room for criticism in your home. This way, everyone in the house will thrive. Children are works in progress (as are we all). Thus, mistakes will be made.

* Allow kids to learn from their errors and re-adjust behaviors for the future. Letting children learn from their own mistakes and then decide to "do better" on their own is an incredibly effective confidence-builder for your kids.

7. Use eye contact and proper voice tones. When talking to your child, show him he's worth your time and effort. Stop what you're doing and look him in the eye. Use non-threatening voice tones. When you speak to your children with attention and respect, their confidence soars.

Practice these methods of building self-confidence in your child. If you do, he'll grow into a mature, assertive adult that you'll be proud of.

CELEBRITY FAMILIES TO BE AWARDED AT THE BABY & FAMILY EXPO 2013

The biggest family event of the year, Baby & Family Expo Philippines 2013, happening on December 06-08, 2013 at SMX Convention Center Manila, Mall of Asia Complex, will be recognizing celebrity families, parents and kids who have been a great inspiration and role model to Filipino families in the first ever Golden Family Awards. The awarding ceremony is scheduled on Saturday, December 7, 2013, 6pm.

The Golden Family of the Year will be awarded to celebrity parents Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo and to daughter Johanna “Yohan Lois" and son Juan Luis "Lucho." Their on-screen love team developed to an off-camera relationship. Four years after, wedding bells were finally heard. Despite rumors, their relationship stayed strong. Aside from their successful showbiz career, Judy Ann and Ryan still managed to be hands-on parents. When it comes to enforcing discipline to their kids, they prefer to handle it on a case-to-case basis instead of imposing cardinal rules. Both parents are open to possibilities of their kids entering showbiz as Yohan and Lucho are showing signs already.

Celebrity couple Regine Tolentino and Lander Vera-Perez will be awarded as the Golden Couple of the Year as their relationship is one of the perfect examples of a relationship that withstood trials and emerged stronger after the storm. Actress and dancing diva felt love at first sight for his on-screen partner Lander Vera-Perez, who was a heartthrob then. But the on-screen love team became a real life relationship. They are blessed with two daughters Azucena Reigne and Alessandra Reigen.

Queen of all media Kris Aquino’s son James “Bimby” Aquino Yap and Little Miss Philippines 2012 Ryzza Mae Dizon will be crowned as this year’s Golden Kids. Following the footsteps of his mom, Bimby is now very active in showbiz print and television commercials plus with an upcoming movie together with award-winning child actress Ryzza, who have been on demand ever since she won in the noon-time show pageant for her unique wit. Currently, she hosts her own show.

Celebrity parents will also be present during the expo to give inspirational talks. Host, author, columnist & Mercato founder RJ Ledesma will share tips on Daddy 101. Azkals coach Michael Weiss will talk about ‘Coaching the Azkals and Coaching Your Kids’. On The Money host and president of The Master's Academy Edric Mendoza will talk about Homeschooling. Bb. Pilipinas- Universe title holder and actress Nina Ricci Alagao-Flores and dancing diva Regine Tolentino will give a talk on Parenting 101. Former vocalist of Moonstar88 Acel van Ommen and Starstruck avenger Jade Lopez will give an advocacy talk for Right Start.

Former beauty queen turned actress Maria Isabel Lopez and MTRCB board member and actress  Gladys Reyes-Sommereux will also be there to sell their pre-loved clothes/items and other stuff to the expo goers, a portion of which will be donated to the Yolanda victims.

The Golden Family Awards is part of the three-day fun-filled event organized by MediaCom Solutions Inc. and co-presented by Cordlife Philippines, the leading cord blood and tissue banking service provider in the country. The Baby & Family Expo Philippines dubbed as “Welcoming Life, Love and Care”, is dedicated to nurture family development and child care. It covers the stages of family growth from pregnancy, maternity, newborns, toddlers and early childhood. The event will also feature educational talks and seminars, exciting activities like Family Olympics and Family Fashion Weekend and exclusive discounts from over 200 exhibitors.

DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?

During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question.
She said, "How do I know if I married the right person?"
I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said,
"It depends. Is that your husband?" In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?"

Let me answer this question because the chances are
good that it's weighing on your mind.

Here's the answer.
EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with
your spouse. You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked
their idiosyncrasies.

Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a
completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love...

Because it's happening TO YOU.

People in love sometimes say, "I was swept of my feet." Think about the
imagery of that __expression. It implies that you were just standing
there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.

Falling is love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience.
But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria of love fades. It's the
natural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls
become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.

The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you
think about your marriage! , you wi ll notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, "Did I marry
the right person?" And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with
someone else. This is when marriages breakdown. People blame their
spouse for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage for
fulfillment.

Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is
the most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work,a hobby, a
friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances.

But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage.
It lies within it. I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.

And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happen to you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out. That's why we have the __expression "the labor of love."

Because it takes time, effort, and energy . And most importantly, it takes WISDOM . You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.

Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific
things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your
marriage.

Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there
ar! e also l aws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise
program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your
relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and
effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable...you
can "make" love.

Love in marriage is indeed a "decision"... Not just a feeling .

“No one falls in love by choice, it is by CHANCE.

No one stays in love by chance, it is by WORK.

And no one falls out of love by chance, it is by choice”

Hardys: It Gets Better with Time

I am blessed with the best sets of friends. I've been with them since time immemorial! We've been through ups and downs and we stuck together.

And now that most of us already have families, we have less time to see each other. Specially that they're working outside Palawan area. But we make it a point that when they're in the city we meet and spend some quality time along with our kids/family.

Time has made us all mature and change a little, but I am thankful that our friendship remains the same. In fact it gets better by the years. I am not rich or famous, but with these people I have as friends, I could not ask for more.

 Hardy's Wine Asia

See, things get better over time, just like Hardys – after 160 years, it just keeps getting better. Established in 1853 – 160 years of wine making experience, pioneers of quality blending techniques and with over 3000 awards in the last decade.

It's always nice to celebrate special events/occasions with the best friends you have and the best wine we could have!

I was once fascinated with big drums, how they create loud base sound! At first it sounded a scary one, but as time goes by I started to like the feeling of nervousness while listening to the sound it created. Heart pounding sounds is such a thrill for me. The louder, the better. It really excites me.

Bongos and Big Drums are the ones I like! Oh, before I forget, I was once a member of a Drum and Lyre Group in my former school. Of course, my instrument is Lyre! :)

And now I wonder how they create cool innovative percussion mallets that helps in producing great sounds?!

It's just too bad that my daughter's school doesn't have a Drum and Lyre group, unlike those in the public schools. She'll be missing the fun of playing the lyre/xylophone. Unless I'll buy her one. LOL

Ceelin Plus: For A Healthier and Taller Kid

As a parent, I would always want my kids to be at the top of their health.

That's why as much as possible I'll try my very best to protect them against sickness. I gave them vitamins that will boost their immune system.

The best that I can give them is Unilab's Ceelin Plus!

Eversince I had Yzabel, her pediatrician prescribed Ceelin Drops as her vitamin. So I also gave it to my youngest duaghter.

Now, she's already 7years old, I give her Ceelin Plus, for a better health and and strong resistance.

In a two months time, my little one will be taking this too!

As per indicated in its packaging, Ceelin Plus uses the unique ZincPlus technology of PediaTech that ensures the stabilized combination of Vitamin C and Zinc.

Plus it also provides  a delicious taste having a fruity Apple flavor, without the atringent taste of Zinc.

With better health and boosted immune system, I am confident that my kids will always be in good health.

According to health experts, Vitamin C forms part of the body’s natural immune system and stimulates the activity of antibodies and immune cells while zinc is required for the normal development and maintenance of the immune system.

The children will greatly benefit from regular intake. Growth stunting can be prevented by increasing immunity against repeated illness and by nourishing the kids properly.

According to meta-analysis, preventive supplementation of 10mg/day of zinc has the most significant effect on linear length in children less than five years of age. Health experts say that one way to keep children healthy and prevent growth stunting from happening is through Vitamin C and Zinc supplementation.

The key in fighting recurring sickness is to feed a child’s immune system. Vitamin C is one of the top immune boosters that aids growth and development while Zinc influences hormonal regulation of body growth contributing to a child’s growth.
