PCPPI recognizes exceptional employees at Gold Crown Awards

(PCPPI)—the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages in the country—recently honored three outstanding employees with this year’s Gold Crown Awards. This recognition is awarded to employees for demonstrating professional dedication in line with PCPPI’s ICARE Values, which stands for Integrity and Innovation, Care and Respect, Empowerment and Excellence. The three awardees for this year are (in photo, from left to right) Faith Marie M. Zacal of from PCPPI’s Cagayan De Oro plant, Lucky J. Mallari from the Central Luzon Operations (CLO) and Jona Marie S. Rollan from the Davao manufacturing facility. Of the awardees, PCPPI president and chief executive officer Frederick D. About Ima:
Ima Castro has been in the music and entertainment industry for 20 years now. She started in the Philippines as a successful recording artist releasing 2 CDs under the label Polygram and MCA/Universal. She recorded duets with Enrique Iglesias and David Pomeranz. She also portrayed the lead role in the musical "Miss Saigon" for 4 years in Manila, Hong Kong, Singapore, Portugal and in major cities in the UK. In 2005, Russell Watson chose Ima to be his special guest in his Manila and Tokyo concerts and so did Ms. Barbara Cook for her 2007 Fort Lauderdale, USA birthday concert. She did her very first Filipino movie “Caregiver” which was filmed in London and was nominated in the Paris Film Festival in July 2008.

She earned rave reviews in the title role of Aida in the Elton John and Tim Rice's musical "Aida", Vanessa in the Tony Award-Winning musical "In The Heights", Sarraghina in "Nine" the musical, Toine in "PIAF"by Pam Gems,Vicki Nichols in "The Full Monty" and most recently as Kala in "Tarzan" all for Atlantis Productions.

Obra Ni Juan. Theater Review.

Spoliarium, an opera with libretto by Soprano Fides Cuyugan-Asensio and with music by Ryan Cayabyab was the first production I saw pertaining to the life of Juan Luna. Originally staged at the CCP in 2003 starring Robert Seña at the titular role, the opera was staged in Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York thirteen years later. Philippine Stagers Foundation (PSF) current production of "Obra Ni Juan " was my follow-up. This original Filipino musical entertainment was written by Atty. Princess Laura, Prince Florante, Prince Aladin and Princess Flerida.   Amidst innovations and new techniques in presenting play, the Gantimpala Theater Foundation, Inc stand in delivering the Filipino classic story “Florante At Laura” in a traditional way as they open 38 th Season. They use the Komedya complete with majestic marches and grand batalia for the entire run of Florante and Laura.
