Re-Experiencing the Pista Y Ang Cagueban

After more than a decade of not joining this event, I was able to experience it again.

I asked my brother if I can hitch a ride with him on his way to work since he's doing his duty at Irawan, a few kilometers away from the planting site. But good thing he knew the bus driver sending off participants to the site, I transferred there.. :)

Arrived at the site and there were so many participants, most of them already had planted seedlings..

These are the teens, the crowd that has already planted ahead of me.

The 2nd seedling I planted this day! I hope this will survive all the adversaries nature has.

I love the quote written on this shirt. True indeed!

On my way home after planting trees. You can see the vibrant colors of tall trees surrounding the area. It's a great feeling that I was able to walk here again after such a long period of time.

Bears for Haiyan: A DIY Caridad Charity Bear Workshop (July 19, 2014)

Typhoon Haiyan may have already happened around a year ago but the devastation that it left still lingers. To ease that, continues efforts must be done to be able to wipe away the tears and replace them with happy thoughts – especially that of the children of Tacloban.

Teddy Bears have always brought smiles to the faces of children. And we, at Manila Workshops would not only want you to smile, but we also want other people to smile because of us. When we do this, we not only bring a smile to our faces, but also to our hearts.

Manila Workshops, together with Luna MNL and BEME are happy to be able to be an instrument in creating happy memories for these kids through our workshop entitled, Bears for Haiyan: A DIY Caridad Charity Bear Workshop. We are inviting you, both young and old, to learn, have fun and bring a smile to the face of one child.

In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own stuffed animals while being able share what you have. Part of the proceeds of the bears are for the benefit of the children affected by typhoon Haiyan.

SOLAIRE RESORT AND CASINO UNVEILS ITS NEW PLANE LIVERY

Solaire Resort and Casino, the Philippines’ premier integrated resort, in partnership with Air Asia unveils a breakthrough branding project in the Philippines.

Solaire again raises the bar as it wraps its brightly colored livery on Air Asia’s popular Airbus A320, which is scheduled to embark on its maiden flight this July.  Solaire is the first-ever consumer brand in the country to fully wrap and brand a commercial airline, with an underlying thrust of further promoting tourism in the Philippines and in greater Asia.

This dynamic collaboration between Solaire and Air Asia represents another step forward in an on-going journey towards providing modern travel and leisure experiences for its customers, with a fresh new approach to their target market.  This partnership will facilitate more passenger and cargo traffic in both regional and domestic flights, and foster stronger trade, cultural and tourism ties within Asia.

“This milestone is a key undertaking between two passionate brands with entrepreneurial and dynamic mindsets. This unprecedented branding project in the Philippines may be taken as a "leadership statement," which attests to Solaire's strong growth momentum in the industry. Yes we are again raising the bar; this time we're taking it to the skies.” says Donato Almeda, Board Director of Solaire Resort and Casino.

Currently, Solaire’s brand colors are donned by just one airplane, but nothing is stopping them from further rolling out this innovative wrap on additional aircrafts in the future with broader partnership arrangements.  The campaign will continue until 2016 and it is envisioned that this high-impact ad in the sky will generate more hype and publicity as the partnership progresses.

Jasper Evangelista, Vice President of Brand & Marketing, Solaire Resort and Casino said, “This aircraft-branding campaign is a strategic branding initiative which would allow us to literally take our brand to greater heights. We have created amazing moments for our customers since Solaire launched last year, and now we’re aiming to further connect with our local & foreign guests and travellers by reinforcing our brand presence in the country’s airports. Sky Solaire will enable us to get immediate traction on this effort and even take it to a level all its own.”

In-line with Solaire’s “Create Your Moments" campaign, which highlights Solaire as the perfect place to create unforgettable memories, this fitting partnership with AirAsia, one of Asia’s leading and multi-awarded airlines in their category, harmoniously evokes the key thrusts of customer service, hospitality, and excitement for both their industries.  This marketing initiative is also primed to open up new revenue streams for both the integrated resort and the airline carrier.

AirAsia Philippines Chairman Maan Hontiveros said, “AirAsia Philippines is a sociable and innovative brand. We also take pride on our collaborative nature. This new livery demonstrates our creative approach to partnerships and marketing opportunities especially with companies that support our vision to grow tourism. We are thrilled to carry Solaire’s brand in the sky and on the grounds at the airports here and abroad extending to as far as our destinations in Malaysia, China and Korea.”

The Solaire experience is stamped with an unparalleled brand of service style, world-renowned Philippine hospitality, top-of-class luxurious accommodations, diverse dining options and impressive gaming facilities, which have all contributed to the way people people view resort casinos in Manila. Many have opted to extend their stay at the resort, to have simply grown to embrace the aspirational and stress-free lifestyle offered to them at Solaire. Solaire Resort and Casino clearly offers the utmost experience of comfort, elegance and luxury in the Philippines right now.

The French Baker Experience (Sta. Lucia East Mall)

It was my first time eating a full meal at this restaurant. I usually just bough breads here and not dine here.
Grilled Chicken with Mango Salsa

My daughter and I ordered this one, chicken meat is so huge that the rice served with it is not enough. Thought mango salsa wasn't that appealing for my taste. :)

So spacious, maybe because there's no much customers that time
They have a free WIFI by the way, of which I enjoyed! LOL

They also have a very attentive crew, fast and always on the go. :)

Each meal is served with a cup of soup, that time we were served with the meaty crab soup (i really don't know what it is called, but it's full of seafood.)

I love the idea of the water they served with a slice of orange and mint leaves..

My rating:
Food: 4/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Crew: 4/5
Value: 4/5

Pure 'N Fresh for Teens

It's back to school for my first born. She's a 3rd grader now. She's growing way too fast (well, for me).
Thankful that she's growing sweet, intelligent and somewhat responsible.

Now that she's growing, there are things that changes. Although she's not into playing at school, she sweat much, plus the humidity in the place added to that.

That's why, even at the very young age, I allow her to bring cologne to freshen up. Good thing that there are products like Pure 'N Fresh Cologne by UNILAB.

They have this packaging that have a cologne and a feminine wash- made for teens and tweens.

Although my little girl doesn't need the feminine wash yet, it's so nice to know that there are products like this that are available in the market,

My daughter loves the smell of this Tangerine Delight Cologne of Pure 'N Fresh.

Happy Father's Day Tatay!

That's my Tatay with my daughters.
On the left, Tatay with Mikyla Yzabel 2009 at Tarabanan Beach Resort
On the right, Tatay with Moirah Yngrid 2014 at Buenavista Private Beach

A true father is always there. He is there to spill tears of happiness when his eyes fall upon his infant daughter. He is there with arms to catch her when she takes her first steps or stumbles. He is there to teach her at the youngest age, even though she might not understand half of it. He is there to help her color inside the lines, make her grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, and tie her shoes. He is there to hug her and kiss her on her first days of school, and to walk her in if need be. He is there to teach her and tease her and laugh with her. He is always there to embarrass her, but that’s part of life. He is there to tell her to go ask her mother, when her mother told her to ask him. He is there to lecture her, prepare her for the monster called high school. He is there to put up with her teenage moods and her co-ed relationships. He is there to approve, disapprove, accept and forgive. He is there to give her a big bundle of flowers when she graduates, to smile when her name is called and feel proud. He is there to embrace her and kiss her before she goes to live and learn a thousand miles away. He is there to see her become a workingwoman, to walk her down the aisle (or not, if her independence and stubbornness prevail after all-ika nga, "mana-mana lang"). He is there to watch her grow as the lines on his face grow. He is there to welcome her home, always, and let her hug him and smell the smell she remembers from childhood, the warm, protecting, comforting smell of dad. But most of all, he is always there to love her. And she is always there to love him back.

Tatay, I love you, happy Father’s Day. Salamat sa pagmamahal na in-extend mo pa sa mga anak ko.

Wala kang katulad!!

Life Schooling and Parenting Advice by Gladys Reyes and Thammie Sy

“The most important thing you should do is be there whenever your children need you the most,” shared Gladys Reyes on what she learned as a mom.

Celebrity Mom Gladys Reyes shares her personal stories during the Baby and Family Expo PH 2013

At the Baby & Family Expo Philippines, organized by Mediacom Solutions, Inc., MTRCB board member, celebrity, entrepreneur and hands-on mom Gladys Reyes told the expo attendees that as soon as a woman enters the phase of motherhood, she’ll learn what unconditional love truly means. Reyes, a mother of three, said that there may come a time when one will feel guilty about not being home for hours to closely monitor the kids. But she emphasized that parents need not to choose between being a career person and a parent.

The key is very simple: Give your kids the quality time they need. “It’s not about how long the hours are, it’s rather the quality you give to that allotted time,” she said.

With the advent of social networking, a parent’s attention can also be easily diverted. You may be physically present, but your attention is elsewhere, which makes it just the same when you’re not around.

Celebrity Mom Gladys Reyes shares her personal stories during the Baby and Family Expo PH 2013

ThammieSy, a proud mom who runs a famous mommy blog, promotes home schooling and good parenting. Instead of home schooling though, she prefers to call it “life schooling” because from the moment the child is born until he grows up, it is the mom’s duty to educate him about life. She also talked about the importance of setting goals.

According to her, it is important to guide your children to the path of being good and responsible citizens. It is also crucial to ask yourself the “Why?”. Answering this will give you purpose and will give you a strong foundation to reach your goals. Sy also advised, “Instead of them entering our world, let’s enter theirs” she said. Every kid has their own personality and learning styles. So it is vital for every parent to respect their kid’s learning styles and let them grow with a strong sense of self.

With the right knowledge and trustworthy people to back you up, parenting will be much more rewarding than what you ever imagined.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Rak is back! Rak of Aegis, the Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) comedy-musical featuring chart-topping Aegis hits returns to the PETA PHINMA Theater stage this coming June to August.

Last January, the PETA original production broke box office records. From an initial line-up of 36 shows, Rak of Aegis ended its first run with seven more sold out performances. The musical drew in crowds of theatergoers, including secret Aegis fanatics and theater virgins, who were wowed, touched and exhilarated by the show’s riveting music and heartwarming performances. Rak of Aegis’ massive following proves that this timely tale of hope, resilience and original Filipino rock tugs at the hearts of Pinoy audiences like no other.

Rak of Aegis brought not only theater lovers but musical icons and prominent personalities to the theater.  OPM President Ogie Alcasid, upon watching the show, stressed the importance of supporting music that’s sariling atin: “A show like Rak of Aegis is an embodiment of what we have to do as Filipinos – suportahan, tangkilikin at ipagbunyi po natin ang ating sariling musika!”

Rak’s popularity was even harnessed to raise funds for the survivors of typhoon Yolanda by several groups who organized benefit shows of the musical.

The Sudden Flight of Chiqui Rodriguez.

37 Year old Abstract Painter Chiqui Rodriguez just recently opened the first  series of Sudden Flight last May 29, an exhibit featuring 20 artwork she masterfully created,  it’s in house at Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences in Salcedo Village in Makati City, hosted by Altromondo.

Sudden Flight according to Chiqui is a tribute of how she glorifies the hardship and the heartaches of fellow Filipinos she met abroad way back 2012 in Berlin. “It’s a collection of painting referring to the after thoughts, after being understood the feelings of OFW.” Chiqui said.

Acrylic is the medium she uses for all this artworks since according to her it moves freely along tunnels and it’s more similar to life, that if we do focus on a certain things it will go better and beyond. Technique use as explain by Chiqui is more of an engineering one wherein a body of liquid is in horizontal that in combination is the best way to convey her message.

Sudden Flight is consist of 100 pieces of painting, 20 is seen in Manila preview while the rest will be showcase abroad. This is the sixth solo exhibit of Chiqui as a Filipina renowned abstract artist.

As an undergraduate of Philippine Studies at the University of the Philippines, Chiqui believe her artistic talent can be rooted to her ancestors; her grandfather is a cousin of FerdigonVocalanm, a known painter of Angono in Rizal that runs a  famous Art resto, the Balaw-Balaw Restaurant in the province that called the Art Capital of the country.

Sudden flight will last until July 18. For more information you may contact Altromondo at telephone nos.501-3270.
