KUBOT Cast. (Jun Sabayton, Ramon Bautista, Dingdong Dantes, Direk Erik Matti, Hannah Ledesma & Abra)
From Tiktik now its Kubot, that’s the
continuation of The Aswang Chronicles still under the direction of Erik Matti
produce by Reality Entertainment and Agosto Dos along with GMA Films, opens in
theater nationwide in the Philippines on Dec 25, 2014 (Christmas Day), as one
of the official entry of Metro Manila Film Festival.
Worth your time and money, Matti said on
a press conference last Dec 11, 2014 at the Executive Lounge of GMA Network
about his latest movie starring Dingdong Dantes, he guarantee the movie viewer
this holiday season that his film is something fresh, and new to look for in
terms of line up this year, and they are the new franchise to enter the
filmfest.
“Yung scene lang na kinakausap ni Ramon
Bautista yung aswang na wag syang kainin, yun pa lang worth P200 na (ticket
price)”. Matti said.
Kubot will start where the Tiktik ended at a place called
Pulupandan, and from there Macoy (Dantes) move to Manila and the Kubot followed
him. Kubot in Philippine Folklore is a clan of long haired female aswangs
married to the Tiktik. Kubot have the abilities to morphine their hair like
tentacle and squeeze their victims.
Playing the main Kubot si Elizabeth
Oropesa, in which according to Matti is very much perfect for the role because
of her Pinay exotic look and expressive eyes. He also point out that Jun
Sabayton is someone to look forward in the movie due to his prowess in acting,
along with Lotlot De Leon who’s role in the film is very much to her image on
screen.
Other cast in Kubot are Isabelle Daza,
Bogart the explorer, Julie Ann San Jose, rapper Abra, and from the original
cast is Joey Marquez and Bautista. But
Matti insist that it is not a horror film, rather it’s a action adventure type
of movie. “Its story is worth to follow,
maganda ang tahi ng kuwento, worth pam-pasko.” Matti said.
Setting of the film is shot mostly in
unexplored part of Binondo in Manila, wherein a lot of special effects and
action sequences will happen. Dantes also declare that his movie is something Filipino
should be proud of, it’s something they have to see in theaters to know why.
Kubot is also an attraction in Enchanted
Kingdom, a theme park in Sta.Rosa, Laguna.
Spoliarium, an opera with libretto by Soprano Fides Cuyugan-Asensio and with music by Ryan Cayabyab was the first production I saw pertaining to the life of Juan Luna. Originally staged at the CCP in 2003 starring Robert Seña at the titular role, the opera was staged in Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York thirteen years later. Philippine Stagers Foundation (PSF) current production of "Obra Ni Juan " was my follow-up. This original Filipino musical was written by Atty. Vince Tañada, PSF President and Artistic Director and with music by Peter Paul "Pipo" Cifra, president of UST Conservatory of Music Alumni Association Incorporated, marked as my first production I saw from PSF. Established in 2002, PSF is a professional theater company with an objective of helping the poor, elderly, sick and even the forgotten, has been consistently conducting free theater workshop in schools nationwide and continuously organizing outreach programs to various charities
