Living in the east with luxury, and a view of a lifetime.

THERE Is a buzz lately that there is an oversupply of Condominium in Metro Manila, this in spite of reality that Condos are now here there in everywhere. Is it also a fact that many considers to have a certificate of lot  or title, rather than having a posh unit in a towering building in Makati, Manila or in Quezon City, but to some who’s kinda blessed enough financially, to have a house in a nearby province is a wish.

Last March 15, from a friend connected to PrimeEast Properties, Inc, we got a chance to tour and explore the East, were the future high end City with majestic view of a lifetime is located,  of course with a budget friendly rates, no other than the Eastridge in the province of Rizal.

The almost 1,000 hectares EastRidge  is under the boundaries of five Municipalities in Rizal. The Angono, Morong, Binangonan, Teresa and Antipolo.  It is tag as the paradise on the top of the mountain due to its 200 meters above sea level location, so from there you can imagine how cold the weather is, and to note that air in EastRidge is pollution free.

According to Jocelyn Flores, Vice President for sales of PrimeEast Properties, their area has many advantage in terms of view, wherein you can see the beauty of Laguna De Bay, appreciate the lights at night through the skylines of Ortigas, Makati and Quezon City. And historically, the world renowned Angono Petroglyphs is in their vicinity.

Two world class amenities is now operational in EastRidge, the 180 hectares of land at East Ridge Golf Course and Golf Village with 18 holes, plus the Thunderbird Hotel, Resort  and Casino. There is also the Aguas Azules resort with infinity pool and its open to public, and for fine dining, Perlita's Garden Restaurant is the perfect choice.
Flores added that merely they are selling lots for now, the cheapest they can offer is P4, 500 per square meter, while the highest can go up only to P6, 500 per square meter. They have a five years plan to develop the said area wherein many investors are expected to put up business soon, she is sure that it will become a sought after destination bound from entertainment, to cultural and to historical.  But she stress that EastRidge is still a community, a village or could be vacation house for some.
Other local celebrities who bought properties in EastRidge are Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Roderick Paulate, Cesar Montano, Edgar Mortiz, Arnold Clavio, Jimmy Santos, Ian Veneracion and a lot more.
The area is divided into subdivision, and there are two clusters as of now, the Morella which has a theme of Spanish Mediterranean residential village, and Ravello that is pattern as the Italian-Mediterranean architectural concept.

EastRidge is under the PrimeEast Properties, Inc, a real estate company that started in 1982, headed by Alexander Asuncion. It is the same company who built Town and Country subdivisions in Antipolo in the past years.
For more informations, you can contact PrimeEast Properties through their Pasig Office at Suite 1010 West Tower, Philippine Stock Exchange Centre, Exchange Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. or at Unit 302  J&F Bldg, V.V Soliven Avenue 3, Cainta Rizal. Telephone numbers are (632)654-3552 and 646-0756.

I must say, that having a properties in EastRidge is a good choice, having seen its beauty, the cold temperature, the close to nature you can get, is really a best investment of your lifetime.

Bambanti, when translated in English, means scarecrow. It is also a festival in Isabela province where the film is set, a festival coupled with dancing and a colorful façade. A scarecrow scares birds based on its outside appearance, with the birds thinking that it’s some kind of monster, thus preventing them from getting to the harvest. It is the perfect metaphor for the story of this film about making judgements based on outside appearances.

The premise of the film is simple. A dirt-poor mother and her boy who have been doing chores for their relatives (in-laws to be precise) as a means of earning money were in the wrong place at the wrong time. About 20-30 minutes into the film, a golden watch disappears, accusations are hurled, and the boy, a known prankster, was highly suspected to be the culprit. This situation alone would bring to mind the Filipino short story “Ang Kalupi” by Benjamin Pascual, where a dirty-looking boy gets accused of stealing a woman’s purse and eventually gets killed. The purse in question was discovered to be sitting in the pocket of the woman’s clothes at home. Now, halfway through the film, I kind of knew who the culprit was but still this rural drama engaged me.

The film stars Alessandra de Rossi (Belen), Popoy (Micko Laurente), Shamaine Buencmaino (Martha), Delphine Buencamino (Martha’s daughter), and Kiki Baento (teacher).

In all of Zig Dulay’s films (1017, Missing, M., etc.), the consistent element is that of social realism. In this film, we are reminded of two judgements which we are sometimes (often for some people) guilty of: Poor people are prone to stealing and that  someone who has an ill-repute (whether proven or not) probably did the bad deed.

We are also reminded of our pride such as pretending to be nonchalant when we see the person we hastily judged instead of apologizing and admitting that we had committed a mistake. This film has shown hubris at its finest, as shown in the last frame where Aling Martha and her daughter had this guilty look in their eyes as Belen and her son passed them by during the Bambanti festival, but proceeded to turn their away and enjoy the festival anyway.

On the technical aspect, this film was definitely a deserving contender for the best cinematography, with its glorious aerial shots, particularly in the fields. The light exposure was just right even in some scenes where it is shot under direct sunlight or in the interior. The images were crisp, as crisp as the truthful performances of the cast members. Each character is well-defined and relatable.

*For me, this film was the best of the bunch (Sinag Maynila 2015 entries). This rural drama was compelling, relatable, engaging, and you can definitely feel for the characters. Truth is indeed irrelevant when one is already a prisoner of stereotyping and judgement based on one's social status.

*As compared to Swap, Imbisibol, and Ninja Party. I was part of Balut Country so it is biased if I include it in the comparison.

Janicel Lubina, the Cinderella of Palawan is the new Bb.Pilipinas-International.

Much have been said, and discuss about the new Bb.Pilipinas International, the newest pride of the province of Palawan, Janicel Lubina of Narra. 19 years old Lubina quest to being a Bb.Pilipinas has now ended as she holds one of the major title, yet the forum are still ongoing, that many believe she deserve to be the Philippines bet for 64th Miss Universe.

But let’s accept it anyway, Lubina being Bb.Pilipinas-International is still a title to be great of, especially she now ended the 27 long years Palawan awaiting for a Bb.Pilipinas crown, the last Palaweña who got the title is Anthea Robles in 1988 as Bb.Pilipinas-International as well.

Prior to the coronation, I had a one-on-one interview with Lubina about her preparations and being a Palaweña. Below is the complete transcribe of my interview.

JC- Kumusta ka na ngayon, I’m seeing a lot improvements and changes sa yo,
JL: Sobrang happy, sobrang confident, bcoz I know in my self that I am ready, I have a lot of trainings na dinaanan, ginawa, I am very confident.

JL: Yes, etu talaga, winning this pageant is a big opportunity. Life changing experience, and I want to make my parents proud, my family proud, and also to our province, the province of Palawan.

JC- Sino-sinong opisyal etu?
JL- Yung sa Narra, Si Mayor Demaala nag-pramis sila na magpapadala ng pambili ng tiket, and then yung Governor natin. Yung City Council nag promise din, at marami pang iba.

JC- How are you going to differentiate yourself from ordinary Narranians, now a Bb.Pilipinas candidate?

Siguro ganun.

JC- What about the issue the gimik mo lang daw ang pagiging kasambahay at magsasaka?
JL:  Kahit pumunta sila sa province naming I can get some of my kasamahan, na magpapatunay na totoo yun, na ginawa ko yan, and sabi ko nga in-case ganapin ang buhay ko sa TV, I can do all the things I’ve done before, hindi ko na kailangan ng artista, ako mismo, kaya ko magsaka, i-act lahat.

Yung father ko nag-migrate from Ilocus, and yung mother ko Cuyunin, Jaranilla apelyido.

Last March 15, at the coronation night of Bb.Pilipinas 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Janicel won Best in Long Gown and Best in Swimsuit, and the Bb.Pilipinas-International crown, and management contract with Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc.,  and to represent Philippines in Japan for Miss International usually held every November of the year.

Lubina is a multi-titleholder of different pageants such as Ms.Scuba Philippines, Ms.Bikini Philippines in 2013, First Runner Up, Miss World-PH 2013, and Mutya ng Palawan 2012. She was under the arms and train by Roedgil Flores of Kagandahang Flores, in Palawan Lubina is being handled by Pageant organizer Thom Favila of Elitista search.

Showcase of exceptional talents at Into The Woods.

Upstart Productions present, Into the Woods
By Aga Posadas

Once upon a time, there was a story staged on Broadway with good music and concept. The creators put a modern and dark twist on several Brothers Grimm fairy tales. It was spectacular. It was even made into a film very recently.

Then some Filipinos thought of staging Into the Woods with some of the great actors in the country. Here's the thing, I have a huge problem with Broadway plays produced in Manila, presented as it is, especially that the film version is still at the height of fame. It becomes just a showcase of the actors' talents. It's just like watching a local Sunday noon-time show. Upstart's production latest production is just like that.

It's like watching a school play with really exceptional acting. Staging it in a real garden, with real trees as the backdrop, was a very good idea. However, there was failure in other technical aspects. The props and costumes looked like the producers ran out of budget. I was expecting something more luxurious since it was based from fairy tales. The presentation of the entire musical lacked imagination. I thought that during the rehearsals they would always conclude "Sige, okay na yan.", when they could have done more.
The Wife and the Baker scene.
Luckily, the actors delivered. Rachel Alejandro shined as the Witch, made me wished she would do more theatre. Other famous actors like Julienne Mendoze and Noel Trinidad also dazzled on stage.

Verdict: C+. I did not even write a synopsis because you probably have watched the film or even the Broadway production.

Lemon Kiss: Shopping Kid's Clothes Online!

Buying children’s clothing from the internet is becoming more and more common.  Not only is online shopping convenient, but it also offers an advantage over traditional shopping because of the wide variety of clothes that are readily available at your finger tips.  From new designer jeans to used vintage dresses, you’ll be able to find every type of clothing style imaginable on the internet.

What I love in shopping online is that, I get to enjoy the unlimited time "window shopping online". Browse all the lines of my favorite brand, like that of the Lemon Kiss dresses for kids. They offer so many variant of beautiful, colorful and trendy dresses for your little girls! :)

Lemon Kiss. It’s a brand of clothing for little girls sold primarily at most SM department stores nationwide. Lots of pretty prints in flattering silhouettes that little girls love. Lily and Stella got to try some and they loved twirling in them. Sophia is still looking for an occasion to wear a dress again.

Lemon Kiss dresses are mostly made of cotton, therefore very comfortable and light. Another plus factor is the price range. Dresses are P400 to P800+. That is why I love their sets of dresses for little girls. Plus, I enjoy and love the idea of shopping online via their Facebook page.

Convenience and variety are both good reasons to shop for children’s apparel online, but discount prices is what draws many people to the internet and that is what I love also! From the comfort of your own home, you can easily comparison shop for children’s clothing from two, three, or even ten retailers if you so choose.  In addition to saving money by finding the lowest priced clothing, you’ll also save money on gas and the wear and tear on your vehicle.

Another nice feature of ordering online is that many retailers provide a way of tracking your shipment as soon as the purchase is made--from the time it leaves the warehouse until it reaches your front door.  You’ll know the location of your package while in transit and when the expected delivery date is.  Depending on the retailer and any running promotions, you may even be able to receive free shipping on your order or a free upgrade to next-day delivery.

As parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, it seems that our schedules are becoming more hectic all the time.  This results in less time for our families, friends and ourselves.  Shopping online for the children in our lives allows us to save some of this valuable time, while saving money as well.  It also adds another much needed convenience that we can all benefit from.
