Base on Noli and Libretto by Jomar Fleras and music by Jed Balsamo, is very much the same with the previous production, however it’s a full musical and of course with a new cast in line.
During the press launch last July 14, 2015 at Dong Juan Restaurant in Quezon City, Zamora emphasize that their version of Noli Me Tangere is the very much alike to the principles of Rizal as the way it was written. “The difference is relevance, we focus on the ideals of Rizal, not on the love story”. Zamora said.
Playing Crisostomo Ibarra are Michael Pangilinan (X-Factor Phils) and Jacob Benedicto (PBB Housemate), the two are already upcoming singers and portraying the iconic role is something to look forward, Classically train for music Myramae Meneses is this year’s Maria Clara, while Batibot luminaries Bodjie Pascua is Pilosopong Tasyo. Vien Alen King is Elias, Kate Alejandrino and Michaela Fajardo as Sisa, Carlo Angelo Falcis is Padre Damaso, Carlo Manalac is Padre Salvi, William Serrano as Kapitan Tiago, Queen Mia is Dona Victorina and Meldea Flor Chua is Consolocion.
Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not) is Rizal’s rebellious novel that exposes the corrupt friars who made Catholic Religion as an instrument to colonize Philippines by Spain, this serve as the wakeup call for the revolution and freedom at the end. It is part of curriculum in High school to study this legendary novel in the Philippines, and there are many versions and staging of this in the past many years, but Gantimpala’s version is considered one of its finest, due to its content and they are doing it wayback 1979.
