Dulaang UP Launches 43rd Season

Dulaang UP holds a Press Preview in lieu of its 43rd Season at the Wilfirdo Ma. Guerrero Theater. Present in the Press Preview were Prof.Emeritus Tony Mabesa, Frontrow President and also DUP alumnus RS Francisco ,Ms. Ma. Amihan V. Ramolete, PhD.  Dean of the College of Arts and Letters and new artistic Director, Banaue Miclat Janssen.
With the Theme : HUDYAT: Pagkilala, Pag-alaala at Pagpapahalaga, Dulaang UP soars high for its 43rd Season.Under the tutelage of New Artistic Director Prof. Banaue Miclat Janssen. Dulaang UP aims to continue producing quality Plays that are in tune with the mission and vision of the Organization.

Banaue takes over the post that was held by Dexter Santos. For its 43rd Season three plays will be staged namely: Six Characters in Search of an Author (Anim na Tauhang Naghahanap ng May-Akda) by Luigi Perandillo, translated by Rody Vera and to be directed by Prof. Emeritus Tony Mabesa . (Performances will run from Sept. 5-30, 2018 at the Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater. Next after that will be The Dressing Room : That which Flows Away Ultimately Becomes Nostalgia) Ang Dressing Room : Kung Saan Lubusang Pangungulila ang Dulot ng Agos ng Panahon by : Shimizu Kunio Adapted by : Chiori Miyagawa , translated in Filipino by Rody Vera.This is to be directed by Alexander C. Cortez with play dates running from Nov. 7-25 at Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater.
Completing the three plays this season is Nana Rosa by Rody vera to be directed by Jose Estrella with play dates running from February 20-March 10, 2019. Miclat Janssen finished her Master of Fine Arts at the City University of New York and is extremly happy that she's back to the one place she calls home- The Theater. Kanser 2018, the latest take on Noli Me Tangere.

One iconic Philippine theatre experience is Kanser, the stage version of Noli Me Tangere that is written by our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. There are many versions of this play by different theater groups, from musical to straight play. Gantimpala Theater Foundation made it as their own biggest production for so many years, it keep changing and upgrading in many aspects, from color feel, to music ambiance and of course the magnificent cast that is challenge to portray iconic characters onstage. Kanser 2018 proves to adopt the needful in terms of stage show, a showcase of photos and some graphics is on the projector during the performances, some new twist in some remarkable scenes is implemented, like the slapping scene of Maria Clara and Padre Salvi which the audience find it humorous. Arielle Agasang to mark 50th Birthday with a show.

To celebrate his 50th birthday, Filipino designer Arielle Agasang is paying his homage to Filipino creations and masterpieces through a fashion show. Happening on June 14, the strictly by invitation one night show dubbed as " Ang Alamat Nang Limampu " will be a gathering of more than 50 beauty kings and queens, actors and actresses and executives, politicians doctors and lawyers at Resorts World Manila Newport Plaza for just one night.
