Last August
29,2015 I attended a Food Stand - Nightlife event organized by Baga Manila at
Lake Front in Sucat, Muntinlupa. Ma. Louisen Manuel co-organized a gastronomic
community that capitalized the word “Bahay” to mean: Buffet At Home is Always
Yummy. BAHAY Buffet is a community of small farms, micro-entrepreneurs, and
other food and beverage businesses that aims to deliver a unique, cozy, and
intimate food buffet experience to urban diners as what they would experience
into the doorsteps of the native home and farms of food connoisseurs.
As I Enter
…
A smile and a
pleasant reception awaits me on the entryway. The usher deserves a 10/10 rating
for being courteous and attentive, as soon as I step in I was bombarded with
attention and greetings in a congenial way and of course I was ardently led to
the dining area while I await for the
buffet event to start.
The Food
Bahay Buffet
offers a wide arrays of delectable BBQ’s with specially formulated dips and
sauces to satisfy ones’ palate. One that caught my attention was Dona’s Grill, they have this unique blends
of spices and sauce that complements their fresh and tender meat BBQ. Dona’s Grill also augment the Filipino
street-food BBQ’s by their well balanced BBQ dips that enhances the grilled
pork and chicken innards.
My personal
favorite was the assorted Jamaican dish prepared by Jefferson M. Extra owner of
Jeph’s Jerk. The
dish comes in with two tender beef ball patty, a chicken kebab marinated in a
coconut with curry sauce, and Jamaica’s version of hot chicken wings. It is
also complemented with potato chips, and Jamaican vegetable salad top with home
made mayonnaise and hot chili paste. This dish is a perfect side dish when
drinking a cold dry beer.
Another dish
in the BAHAY Buffet that caught my attention was an exquisite Thai dish prepared
by Thai Breakers. This entrée dish is prepared with Pa Pia Sod (a Thai fresh spring rolls
with sauce bursting with a combination of creamy peanut, tangy taste and
sweetness of our native tamarind), and Pad Thai (Thai version of stir fried
noodles, a national dish of Thailand, made from stir fried rice noodles sauté in shallots, shouts, tofu, native
egg, crushed peanuts, and meat). It is complemented by a platter fresh tropical
fruit salad.
Acessability
and The Ambience
The event was
held at the back of The Wharf at Lakefront Sucat located before the Sucat Southbound
exit toll gate. The Wharf is a popular all day dining commercial hub and a
perfect place to unwind at any time of the day and night along Sucat. The
ambience is very provincial and laid-back a paradise within an urban district.
Ready for
Another Bahay Buffet Event?
I give the
BAHAY Buffet community a very well done job on this event. Future guests of
this Food Stand - Nightlife event can expect a variety of traditional Filipino,
Asian, and Islander cuisine prepared in a delectable “Lutong Bahay Style” that conciliate the pedant tastes of
both young and young at heart. For upcoming Bahay Buffet follow Baga Manila and Bahay Buffet at Facebook.
