“If there is anything about this festival, for me overwhelming kasi tatlong gabi na iba ibang genre kada gabi ng performances, iba ibang artist, iba ibang persuasions, and this is what we intend to do for this festival, I.m sure meron kami next year at sa next 10 year, palaki ng palaki yan.” Cayabyab said during the Press Launch last May 7 at the Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City.

According to Ilocos Sur 2nd District Congressman Eric Singson, the start of Candon Music Festival can be rooted 10 years ago, it was a music program with numerous young Ilocanos that they send to Manila, to study and learn how to play classical music instruments, and those young kids who finish studying music are the one behind the staging of this Music Festival.

“Our objective is really to inspire our young kids in the community, and we cannot think of anything else to do this by holding a music festival, something that they will really appreciate and of course with the presence of good musicians, and the presence of our national artist Mr. Ryan Cayabyab will really push our program in Ilocos Sur.” Singson said.

Candon Music Festival is just a music exhibitions or concert per se, not competition for now but just a fun music extravaganza, but Cayabyab add some workshops for the youth of Ilocos to learn how to write music, create original content that themselves feel and usually do in Candon.

“We will educate, we will inject creative workshops, creative music writing workshops, just like what I do in other events that I do around the country, it’s very important kasi advocacy ko to na yung mga bata in their local must be able to write music, write songs na para sa community nila, in their language, in the way they express themselves, so that hindi tayo masyadong dependent sa imported songs and music, actually in the future we will have a big, big collections of music literature written by young people in each community, isa yan sa advocacy na gusto naming i-inject sa Candon Music Festival.” Cayabyab further added.

The venue is an open grounds, it is a standing room only concert type and there are booths for food and drinks around the venue, however the alcoholic drinks are to be consume only in a certain areas to avoid some unfortunate incidents, there are seats available in the VIP area near the stage, tickets are free according to its Candon Music Festival Facebook Page.
