PCPPI recognizes exceptional employees at Gold Crown Awards

Excellence thrives where it is practiced consistently. Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. (PCPPI)—the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages in the country—recently honored three outstanding employees with this year’s Gold Crown Awards. This recognition is awarded to employees for demonstrating professional dedication in line with PCPPI’s ICARE Values, which stands for Integrity and Innovation, Care and Respect, Empowerment and Excellence. The three awardees for this year are (in photo, from left to right) Faith Marie M. Zacal of from PCPPI’s Cagayan De Oro plant, Lucky J. PLDT Global celebrates Global Filipino Heroes with music on Independence Day

To celebrate the Philippine Independence Day, technology services company PLDT Global Corporation will hold a free online concert dubbed as “Musikalayaan” dedicated to overseas Filipino around the world.

Headlining the concert are top OPM artists Luke Mejares, Nina, and Ice Seguerra. They will be singing songs about love and freedom dedicated to the Global Filipinos. The event will also feature stories of OFWs who served as frontliners and volunteers in their respective communities to help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Through this event, we want to provide global Filipinos a venue to connect and celebrate Independence Day through music and stories,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, Chief Commercial Officer at PLDT Global. “This is also a way for us to recognize our kababayans who went the extra mile and showed the true meaning of bayanihan during this time of crisis,” he added.

Viewers can visit the PLDT Global Facebook Page on June 14, 2020, at 6:00 PM (Philippine Standard Time). Filipinos from other countries can also join in at these times: United Arab Emirates at 2:00 PM; United Kingdom at 11:00 AM; and California, USA at 3:00 AM. (PR)

Obra Ni Juan. Theater Review.

Spoliarium, an opera with libretto by Soprano Fides Cuyugan-Asensio and with music by Ryan Cayabyab was the first production I saw pertaining to the life of Juan Luna. Originally staged at the CCP in 2003 starring Robert Seña at the titular role, the opera was staged in Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York thirteen years later. Philippine Stagers Foundation (PSF) current production of "Obra Ni Juan " was my follow-up. This original Filipino musical entertainment was written by Atty. Princess Laura, Prince Florante, Prince Aladin and Princess Flerida.   Amidst innovations and new techniques in presenting play, the Gantimpala Theater Foundation, Inc stand in delivering the Filipino classic story “Florante At Laura” in a traditional way as they open 38 th Season. They use the Komedya complete with majestic marches and grand batalia for the entire run of Florante and Laura.
